Hey! I’m Greta, and I’m 28 years old. I graduated a few years ago with a Master’s Degree in Advanced Biotechnology and recently (Dec ’24) completed my PhD in Genetics, Molecular, and Cellular Biology at the University of Pavia. I have been a dry-lab person since the very start of my academic journey. My work focuses on evolution, genomics, and computational structural biology. Currently, my main research interest lies in investigating host-pathogen and host-symbiont interactions by combining  computational structural biology (e.g., AlphaFold) with -omics approaches. My current projects include Cryptosporidium parvum epidemiology, Borrelia genomics, Borrelia-host/vector interactions, Ixodes ricinus transcriptomics.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading thrillers and fantasy novels, playing video games (I’m a big fan of The Sims and Zelda), and creating pottery pieces. My spirit animal is the rabbit (for many reasons), and my favorite color is #9BC4E2, but I also like #EFC050. And I have a big issue when choosing color palettes for graphics.

Lastly, no introduction would be complete without mentioning my official assistant, Signora Lady (also known as Dottoressa, Maria, CiuCiu, CiaoBella, Tini, Titti, and many others), who provides moral support to the lab while snoozing under my desk.
